La barrera contra inundaciones del Támesis es una de las mayores defensas móviles contra inundaciones del mundo. Desde su finalización en 1986, la barrera se ha cerrado 182 veces (con precisión a partir de febrero de 2018). 95 de estos cierres fueron para proteger contra inundaciones de mareas y 87 cierres fueron para proteger contra inundaciones de mareas / fluviales.

Thames River Sightseeing Are No Longer Operating Cruises to the Thames Barrier
Thames River Sightseeing operate sightseeing cruises through the Thames Flood Barrier five times each day between April – October. Passengers can join a cruise to the Thames Barrier from Embarcadero Westminster, Embarcadero St. Katharine y Embarcadero Greenwich.

Barrier Gardens Pier is located on the South shore a short walk from the Thames Barrier Information Centre.
Groups who would like to visit the Thames Barrier & Information Centre can arrive or depart by boat with Thames River Services. Pre-booked groups can arrange to embark or disembark at Barrier Gardens Pier with one of our regular sailings which operate between April – October.
