This winter join us for a festive Sunday Evening Cruise from Greenwich Pier. Our London Christmas Cruises depart at 18:00 & cruise upriver through Central London passing the cities famous landmarks & under the River Thames’ iconic bridges.

Old Royal Naval College

The Old Royal Naval College is Sir Christopher Wren’s riverside masterpiece, built in the 17th Century as the Royal Hospital for Seamen on the site of the Tudor Palace of Placentia. The Old Royal Naval College boasts beautiful surroundings & some of the most magnificent interiors in London. The Painted Hall in King William Court is home to the largest painted ceiling in Europe, a Baroque masterpiece by Sir James Thornhill depicting over 300 years of English aristocracy & British Naval Power. The Chapel of St Peter & St Paul in Queen Mary Court has a beautiful interior designed by James ‘Athenian’ Stewart. Visitors to the Old Royal Naval College can enjoy tours of the Painted Hall & the grounds & visit the cafe & gift shop located in King William Court.
Royal Observatory

The Royal Observatory Greenwich was founded in 1675 by King Charles II. The Observatory sits on the hill in Greenwich Park and is the location of the Historic Prime Meridian (Greenwich Meantime). The Royal Observatory is also home to the Greenwich Time Ball which has marked 13:00 Greenwich Meantime everyday since 1833.
Cutty Sark

Visit the last remaining tea clipper, Cutty Sark. Originally built at Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869 she spent her working life transporting cargo including tea from China and wool from Australia. She has now been fully restored and is an award winning visitor attraction.
The Prospect of Whitby

There has been a pub on this site since 1520 making the Prospect of Whitby London’s oldest riverside pub. The original pub was called The Pelican but was locally known as the Devil’s Tavern because it was popular with pirates & thieves.

St. Katharine Docks

St. Katharine Dock was constructed by Thomas Telford & opened in 1828. The docks became popular with expensive cargo’s from around the world including ivory, shells, sugar, marble, wines, fragrant spices & perfumes. Today St. Katharine’s is a haven for yachts & historic vessels including traditional Thames sailing barges. A wide range of cafes, bars & restaurants are located at St. Katharine’s & regular food markets also take place throughout the week.
Tower Bridge

Il Tower Bridge è uno dei ponti più famosi al mondo ed è stato progettato da Sir John Wolfe Barry e Horace Jones. Il ponte è stato aperto nel 1894 e la campata centrale è divisa in due bilici che si aprono per consentire alle navi di passare attraverso la piscina superiore.
Tower of London

The Tower of London takes its name from the White Tower which was constructed in around 1078 by William the Conqueror. Over the last 900 years the Tower of London has served a number of uses including a fortress, armoury, royal palace, royal mint, treasury, menagerie, prison & more recently the home to the crown jewels. The Tower is guarded by the Yeoman Warders who were formed by King Henry VII in 1485.

20 Fenchurch Street (The Walkie Talkie)

20 Fenchurch Street, soprannominata The Walkie Talkie è stato progettato da Rafael Viñoly e completato nel 2014. Gli ultimi piani di 20 Fenchurch Street ospitano lo Sky Garden, un premiato giardino paesaggistico con ristoranti, bar e un'area panoramica.

Il Monumento al Grande Incendio di Londra è stato progettato da Christopher Wren e Robert Hooke. Il Monumento è alto 202 piedi e si trova esattamente a 202 piedi dalla panetteria di Thomas Farriner dove iniziò il Grande Incendio di Londra nel 1666.
London Bridge

There has been a bridge across the River Thames on the site of London Bridge since Roman Britain. The current bridge is the fifth bridge to stand on this site and was opened by the Queen in 1973.

Shakespeare's Globe

Il Globe Theatre di Bankside è un'autentica replica di un teatro del XVI secolo. Vengono regolarmente eseguite opere shakespeariane e sono disponibili anche visite guidate al teatro. Il bar e ristorante Swan del Globe serve colazione, pranzo, cena e un "tè pomeridiano da sogno di una notte di mezza estate" ispirato ai personaggi delle commedie di Shakespeare.
Ponte del Millennio

Il Millennium Bridge collega Bankside a South Shore alla City di Londra a nord. Il ponte è stato aperto nel giugno 2000 e ha guadagnato il soprannome di "Ponte traballante" dopo che un inaspettato movimento oscillatorio ne ha causato la chiusura. Dopo quasi due anni di modifiche il ponte ha riaperto.
Tate Modern

Cattedrale di San Paolo

Ci sono state diverse cattedrali sul sito di St. Pauls risalenti al 604 d.C. Il più notevole di questi era la cattedrale costruita dai Normanni tra il 1087 e il 1240. Il Norman St. Pauls era l'edificio più grande dell'Inghilterra medievale, è durato per quasi 600 anni sopravvivendo alla Riforma e alla guerra civile inglese. Nell'agosto 1666 Christopher Wren mise a punto i piani per restaurare la cattedrale, anche se poco più di una settimana dopo St Pauls fu distrutta dal Grande Incendio di Londra. La costruzione della nuova cattedrale iniziò nel 1675 e durò 33 anni. La nuova cattedrale fu consacrata il 2 dicembre 1667 e si trova ancora oggi. St. Pauls è aperto per la preghiera sette giorni su sette, i turisti possono visitare la cattedrale dal lunedì al sabato.

Hotel Savoia

Il Savoy Hotel è stato costruito da Richard D'Oyly Carte e aperto nel 1889. Il Savoy si è rivelato popolare tra i turisti ed è stato il primo hotel in Gran Bretagna ad utilizzare ascensori elettrici e ad essere illuminato interamente da luci elettriche. Il Savoy vanta numerosi bar e ristoranti ed è adiacente al Savoy Theatre.

HQS Wellington è uno sloop di classe Grimsby varato nel 1934. Ha scortato convogli nel Nord Atlantico durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Ora è ormeggiata permanentemente sul Victoria Embankment ed è la sala livrea della Honorable Company of Master Mariners.

Royal Festival Hall

La Royal Festival Hall è l'ultimo edificio rimasto del Festival of Great Britain del 1951. La sala può ospitare 2.500 persone ed è situata nel Southbank Centre, il più grande centro artistico del Regno Unito. Ogni anno al Southbank Centre si tengono oltre 5.000 eventi, tra cui mostre, festival e spettacoli di alcuni degli artisti più famosi al mondo.

Il Royal National Theatre è stato aperto dalla regina Elisabetta II nel 1976. Tre teatri individuali occupano il sito e ogni anno vengono proiettati oltre 20 spettacoli diversi. Il Olivier Theatre è il teatro più grande e può ospitare 1.100 persone. Il Olivier Theatre prende il nome dal primo direttore artistico del Teatro Nazionale, Sir. Laurence Olivier.

Il London Eye è stato progettato da Marks Barfield Architects e lanciato nel 2000 come attrazione temporanea. Il London Eye è diventato rapidamente una delle attrazioni a pagamento più popolari al mondo, con oltre 3,5 milioni di visitatori ogni anno. In una giornata limpida la visibilità è fino a 40 km consentendo viste del Castello di Windsor e del ponte Queen Elizabeth II a Dartford.

New Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament)

Known as the ‘Houses of Parliament’, the new palace was built between 1840-1870 after the original palace was damaged during a fire. The palace is the home of UK Parliament & the iconic Elizabeth Tower (known as Big Ben).
